SCHOOL CALENDAR 1926-1927

 

Sept. 7-School opened with an enrollment of 252.
New teaching staffs High School:  Mr.Culter, Miss Cannon, and Miss Wohlenberg; also Miss Cleaver in Fifth and Miss Lyle in Second. Talk by Rev. Johnson.

Sept. 10-The first issue of the High School's newspaper, "The Eagle," was published. Paper to be published twice each month.

Sept. 17-Seniors gave the first Literary Program.

Sept. 27-Freshmen received their green caps.

Oct. 1-Freshmen Initiation

Oct. 4-Beginning of Basket Ball practice.

Oct. 12-First Basket Ball game; Inter-class tournament. Juniors, 7; Preps, 6.

Oct. 14-15-First of the Six Weeks Exams.

Oct. 15-Finish of tournament. Teachers, 8; Girls, 11. Eighth, 5; Soph., 15. Juniors, 7; Seniors, 17. Soph., 8; Seniors, 11. SENIORS CHAMPIONS, won pennant.

Oct. 25--Farm Bureau held meeting in School House.

Nov. 2-Halloween Masquerade party given by Athletic Association.

Nov. 8-9-Teachers Institute.

Nov. 22-23-Second of Six Weeks Exams.

Nov. 24-First and Fifth grades entertained the school visitors with a Thanksgiving Program.

Nov. 23-Athletic Play, "The Deacon's Second Wife."

Nov. 29-Beginning of Declamatory work.

Nov. 30-School building presented with storm windows.

Dec. 1-Talk by Rev. Arnold.

Dec. 3-Educational talk by. Rev. Bennit.

Dec. 23-Second, Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth grades entertained visitors and school with a Christmas program.


Dec. 24-Jan. 3-Christmas Holidays.

 

Jan. 13-14-Third Six Weeks Exams.

Jan. 19-Commercial Law class went to Logan to hear Harding Trial.

Jan. 20-Declamatory Contest.

Jan. 21-Election of Athletic Association Officers.

Jan. 25-26-Seniors spent afternoon in canvassing for Annual.

Febr. 2-Manual Training Girls began work on wrestling mat.

Febr. 4-New Athletic Officers took their positions.

Febr. 9-Pictures taken for the Annual.

Febr. 11-12--Basket Ball Tournament at Missouri Valley.

Fear. 14-Declamatory Contest.

Febr. 18-Analysis of a CAT.

Febr. 22-FIRE in the Domestic Science Room.

Febr. 24-25-Fourth Six Weeks Exams.

Mar. 7-Base Ball season opened.

Mar. 10-Basket Ball Banquet.

Mar. 18-First Grade pupils entertained parents, visitors, and school.


Apr. 7-8-Fifth Six Weeks Exams. Apr. --Juniors' Class Play, "The Poor Married Man."


Apr. -High School Operetta, "Princess Chrysanthemum."

Apr. -Junior and Senior Banquet.


May 13--Senior Class Play. May 15-Baccaulaureate Address.


May 16-17-Last of the tests for this school year. May 17-Eighth Grade Graduation Exercises.

May 18-High School Picnic.


May 19-Senior Graduation Exercises. Address by Rev. Houston. Award of Letters.
