Senior Class History

The Senior class of nineteen hundred and thirty-nine entered high school with an enrollment of twenty-six members. During the year we lost Donne John and Leo Ford; and Billy O'Rourke moved to Magnolia. Our class sponsor was Bernard Bolton. The biggest event of this year was our initiation which all of us will always remember.

In our Sophomore year we had only one new member, Sylvester Dungan, and at the end of the year lost Ruth and Delores Wiltse. Our class sponsor for this year was Miss Mildred Barrett.

During our Junior year we lost two more members, Lester Peterson, who discontinued school, and Rolland Watts, who moved to Mondamin. Two outstanding events of the year were our class play "Madam the Boss", and the Junior-Senior Banquet, "The Cruise of the Memory Gang." The class enjoyed two theatre parties during the year. Miss Gretchen Junge aided us as class sponsor.

We began the Senior year by adding two new members, Margie Lennert and Helen Croghan. We chose the following class officers: Shirley Wells, President; Hugh Zahner, Vice President; Helen McManimie, Secretary; and Marguerite Nelson, Treasurer. The annual class picnic was 'held at the Blair bridge during the first few weeks of school. We all enjoyed a theatre party afterwards. At this time we decided to go to Lincoln, Nebraska for our Senior Day, the date being set for April 18th. Our valedictorian is Hugh Zahner and salutatorian is Deane Tate. Our class play "WHERE'S GRANDMA" will be given April 27th and 28th. The Junior-Senior Banquet will be April 13th. The class has left one of its marks on the gymnasium wall in the form of a pennant.

Anticipating our commencement exercises, May 11th, we chose as our class flower the white carnation, our colors were green and white, and our motto, "We'll Find a Path or Make One."
