In the fall the Eighth Grade class consisted of
seventeen members. One member, Charles Cartwright, dropped out after the second six weeks
period. His place was filled by Doyle Brotherton, who entered in the second semester.
The class as a whole have a good average. The following pupils
have a "B" or above average: Lorena Hoff, Helen Hillman, Marguerite Sigler,
Kenneth Fitzpatrick, Ethel Lee, and Norma Alexander. Lorena has proven herself to be the
best speller in the grades and was awarded the certificate from the Des Moines Register.
She represented the school in the County Spelling Contest and was the winner.
This class studies both American History and Civics under Miss
Wohlenberg. In order to know what is going on in the world at the present time, they study
The News Outline. This little paper comes every week and it contains many interesting
articles in addition to Current Events.
Kenneth Fitzpatrick took part in the Declamatory Contest while a
number of the girls of class have shown their ability to speak in the Literary Programs
that have been given by the class. |
